Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Food Handlers Certification for the State of Texas
- Certified through Texas Association for School Nutrition preferred
- Minimum six hours of annual training for School Nutrition Programs
- Experience in institutional food service operations, preferably K-12 food service
- Ability to read, understand and follow recipes and production records
- Ability to perform basic math operations for recipe conversions
- Adherence to federal, state and local policies and regulations
- Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Ability to maintain high standards of sanitation, safety and cleanliness
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
- Ability to work in varying temperature and humidity conditions
- Ability to follow proper hygiene and use of sanitizing chemicals
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Food Handlers Certification for the State of Texas
- Certified through Texas Association for School Nutrition (TASN) preferred
- Meets or exceeds minimum six hours of annual training for School Nutrition Programs
- Able to read, understand and follow production records and recipes
- Basic math skills to convert recipes and handle measurements
- Adheres to classified employee work rules and uniform standards
- Experience in institutional food service operations, preferably K-12 food service
- Ability to maintain knowledge of HACCP sanitation and safety practices
- Ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment
- Basic computer literacy for work email and timekeeping
Job Duties
- Assist in preparation, service and clean up of food to meet menu requirements and regulations
- Maintain high standards in food production, sanitation and safety practices
- Support department with regular attendance and punctuality
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, ovens and steamers safely and properly
- Follow HACCP sanitation and safety practices including proper cleaning and food storage
- Document food temperatures and storage times
- Prepare meal components in correct quantities and ensure compliance with USDA and TDA regulations
- Assist with receiving, inspecting and storing products using FIFO method
- Attend staff meetings and follow communication from CND administration
- Support money management processes as applicable
- Adhere to all employee work rules, handbooks and departmental policies
- Report equipment in need of repair
- Maintain knowledge of computer processes for work email and attendance systems
- Maintain a safe work environment through correction and reporting
