Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • food handlers certification for the State of Texas
  • experience in institutional food service operations preferably K-12
  • meet or exceed minimum six hours of annual training for school nutrition programs
  • able to read, understand and follow recipes and production records
  • basic math skills to convert recipes
  • able to adhere to federal, state and local policies and regulations
  • ability to maintain cleanliness and safe work environment
  • physically able to lift 50 pounds and perform frequent walking, stooping and bending
  • able to work under varying temperature and environmental conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • food handlers certification for the State of Texas
  • certified through the Texas Association for School Nutrition (TASN) preferred
  • meet or exceed minimum six hours of annual training for school nutrition programs
  • able to read and follow production records and recipes
  • basic math skills for recipe conversions
  • adhere to federal, state and local policies and regulations
  • experience in institutional food service operations preferably K-12
  • ability to understand and apply HACCP sanitation and safety practices
  • able to maintain cleanliness and organization in work environment

Job Duties

  • Support the department with regular attendance and punctuality
  • plan ahead for absences per CND handbook
  • show high initiative and self-motivation
  • maintain an organized and clean workspace
  • swipe in and out every day and verify time swipes
  • maintain knowledge of employee handbook and follow all procedures
  • maintain knowledge of kitchen equipment and notify manager of repair needs
  • maintain knowledge and adhere to HACCP sanitation and safety practices
  • document all food items and verify temperatures during preparation and serving
  • take daily food samples and store properly
  • store food and beverages according to HACCP standards
  • record cooler and freezer temperatures twice daily
  • maintain a safe work environment and report repair needs
  • maintain serving schedules and ensure meal components meet menu requirements
  • produce food items according to USDA, TDA and department regulations
  • attend staff meetings and keep up with communications
  • document product usage and assist with receiving and storing food products
  • document money management processes daily as applicable
  • perform other assigned functions by administrative office or kitchen manager
