Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • ability to work 12am to 8:30am shifts
  • ability to supervise inmate labor and team members
  • knowledge of food handling regulations
  • ability to prepare and serve food following safety standards
  • physical ability to lift, bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • dependable and flexible
  • ability to work independently and as a team member

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum age of 18 years
  • prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
  • prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in quality food preparation according to menus and recipes
  • ensure all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
  • serve food during planned meal schedules according to policies and procedures
  • utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food based on recipes
  • follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • train other food service workers
  • maintain a clean work area including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • follow facility uniform policy
  • manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean from food and trash
  • ensure kitchen is clean and ready for food preparation and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • review proper portions and utensils for service
  • promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
  • perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • stand and be on feet for much of the scheduled shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
