Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- must be at least 18 years of age
- ability to work 12am to 8:30am shifts
- ability to supervise inmate labor and team members
- knowledge of food handling regulations
- ability to prepare and serve food following safety standards
- physical ability to lift, bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods
- dependable and flexible
- ability to work independently and as a team member
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum age of 18 years
- prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and team members in kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
- prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in quality food preparation according to menus and recipes
- ensure all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
- serve food during planned meal schedules according to policies and procedures
- utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food based on recipes
- follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
- train other food service workers
- maintain a clean work area including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
- follow facility uniform policy
- manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean from food and trash
- ensure kitchen is clean and ready for food preparation and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
- review proper portions and utensils for service
- promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
- perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
- stand and be on feet for much of the scheduled shift
- perform other related duties as assigned
