Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to provide customer service
  • Ability to obtain and maintain food handling certification
  • Ability to operate POS cash register when applicable
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Food handling certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Previous experience in food service or related environment preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff and customers
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety practices
  • Ability to follow established policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Sets up work station and prepares assigned foods following portion control and quality standards
  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses, cooking utensils, equipment and kitchen areas
  • Maintains par levels of food and supplies, orders and restocks items, rotates food stocks and checks expiration dates
  • Checks and records food and equipment temperatures, reports discrepancies to supervisor
  • Delivers meals, nourishments, late trays and tube feedings to patient units and assists in catering or special event service
  • Handles cash transactions at registers or cafe when applicable
  • Provides excellent customer service in accordance with hospital policies and standards
