Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, walk
  • Willingness to follow facility policies and procedures

  • Solid understanding of food handling regulations

  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred but not required

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members during food prep and food service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in food preparation according to menus and recipes
  • Ensure proper and sanitary food storage
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules in compliance with policies
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food
  • Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, handling, and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas including refrigerators, freezers, and cooking equipment
  • Adhere to facility uniform policies
  • Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • Ensure kitchen is clean and ready for food prep and serving
  • Review portions and utensils for service
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
