Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Prior experience in food service or institutional kitchen is preferred
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification is preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant, cafeteria experience preferred but not required
  • ServSafe Food Handler certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of food handling regulations
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Good communication and organizational skills

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts in the kitchen
  • Prepare, assist or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of a variety of food items in accordance with departmental work production standards, standardized recipes, and work instructions
  • Follow assigned facility housekeeping and safety practices in all preparation, oversight, and serving of correctional facility meals
  • Ensure compliance with food handling regulations and maintain cleanliness and safety standards
  • Monitor inventory and report any supply shortages or needs to management
  • Train new staff and inmates on food service procedures and safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties as determined by the needs of the business
