McConnell Air Force Base (AFB) is a key installation of the U.S. Air Force located in Wichita, Kansas. It is dedicated to providing operational support, training, and services for Air Force and Space Force personnel and their families. Job Requirements
- Complete a background investigation with favorable results
- Obtain a Food Handler's Certificate or complete food handler's training
- Complete a pre-employment Physical Examination
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 20 pounds unassisted and over 20 pounds with assistance
- Continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing and bending
- Must meet eligibility requirements including U.S. citizenship or residency status
- Register for Selective Service if male born after December 31, 1959
- Submit a complete application package including resume and required documents by closing date
- Ability to provide a REAL ID or authorized combination of identity documents
- Direct deposit is required
- Successful completion of E-Verify check
- May be subject to probationary period
- Must comply with all pre-employment requirements prior to Entrance on Duty
Job Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand written and oral instructions
- Ability to perform simple tasks that are easily learned
- Manual skill in moving carts and operating kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of basic food handling techniques to meet sanitation and safety standards
- Ability to lift or move objects up to 20 pounds frequently and over 20 pounds with assistance
- Capability to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push and bend for long periods
- Ability to use hand tools for cleaning and operating food service machines
- Open to all applicants including U.S. Citizens, Nationals and those who owe allegiance to the U.S.
- Must meet qualification and eligibility requirements including self-identification and proof of eligibility
- Experience gained through paid, unpaid and volunteer work is credited
- Education substitution allowed for qualifying experience
- Ability to follow simple oral instructions and written materials
Job Duties
- Sets up glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, napkins, condiments and cold menu items on a serving line
- Removes dishes and trays from tables
- Prepares food and assists snack bar personnel during peak periods
- Operates, breaks down and cleans electrical food preparation equipment
- Cleans kitchen equipment including worktables, sinks and refrigerators
- Separates food waste and trash in dishwashing area
- Loads and operates dishwashers and stores clean dishes, glasses and silverware
- Washes tables, counters, vacuums and shampoos carpets
- Sweeps and mops kitchen floors, cleans windows, washes walls and sanitizes trashcans
- Sorts, washes, peels and cuts fresh fruits and vegetables
- Assists customer service desk including assigning lanes, operating control console and renting shoes
- Opens and closes the facility
- Assists with daily deposits and prepares accounting documents for approval by Activity Director
- Performs other related duties as assigned
