Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ability to supervise and train team members
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team
- Good physical stamina to handle the physical demands of the role
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and team members during food prep and service shifts
- Prepare and instruct in food preparation according to menus and recipes
- Ensure proper and sanitary food storage
- Serve food during scheduled meal times following department policies
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook and serve food accurately
- Follow all food safety regulations regarding sanitation, handling, and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and kitchen equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
- Ensure kitchen is ready for food preparation and serving including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
- Review proper portions and utensils for service
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
