Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Suitable for federal employment, determined by background investigation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment urinalysis screening for illegal drugs
  • Selective service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
  • Completion of online onboarding process with acceptable identification
  • Willingness to serve 1-year probationary period
  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional heavy lifting with assistance
  • Ability to work multiple tour shifts
  • Compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Commitment to upholding public interest and federal service standards

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to perform food service worker duties dependably
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Experience or training in food service or related work environment preferred
  • Ability to handle weights and loads as required by the job
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices
  • Strong work ethics and reliability
  • Good dexterity and safety awareness

Job Duties

  • Clean serving areas by sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, and other food service equipment such as refrigerators, toaster, and coffee machines
  • Clean production equipment including steam jacketed kettles and tilt skillets using appropriate and safe sanitation techniques
  • Load and operate dishwashers and cart washing station
  • Perform necessary preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Transport tray carts to wards and deliver trays directly to patients' bedside or assist patients with transport of their meal trays
  • Set up serving areas with hot and cold foods, keeping foods appropriately stocked during meal service
  • Identify discrepancies between prescribed diet and listed food allergies and food items on tray ticket
  • Assemble a variety of items in cold food preparation and nourishment area
  • Make cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients
  • Perform other duties as assigned
