Job Requirements

  • Two years of qualifying experience in commercial or institutional food preparation or food service
  • formal culinary arts or food service training may substitute experience
  • candidates can be from outside or within State Service
  • background checks required
  • ability to supervise and train staff
  • knowledge of food portions and food safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of qualifying experience in commercial or institutional food preparation or food service
  • experience in a hospital, nursing home, or school cafeteria
  • experience in residential dining hall, restaurant, or diner
  • responsibility for food preparation, food service, and ordering supplies
  • formal culinary arts or food service training resulting in a certificate or degree
  • eligibility for non-competitive promotion if applicable
  • permanent service as Food Service Worker 1 for one year for promotion
