Job Requirements

  • Eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
  • ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality
  • compliant with Washington State health and safety regulations
  • capacity to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • availability to work first shift
  • passing of employment verification and reference checks
  • willing to participate in ongoing training and certification
  • ability to handle cash and electronic transactions accurately

Job Qualifications

  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card
  • basic knowledge of coffee preparation and customer service principles
  • ability to maintain quality and consistency in beverage preparation
  • capable of operating point of sale systems
  • effective communication and teamwork skills
  • ability to troubleshoot and maintain coffee equipment
  • capacity to work in a fast-paced environment
  • willingness to develop and maintain Starbucks certification
  • experience in handling food safety and sanitation procedures
  • ability to follow detailed instructions and store policies

Job Duties

  • Maintains consistent attendance and punctuality
  • delivers Starbucks branded customer service by evaluating the environment for cues
  • prepares and serves quality beverages and products promptly
  • engages and educates customers about coffee-related topics
  • acts as a role model reflecting UW dining mission and values
  • contributes to a positive team environment through cooperation and collaboration
  • performs bar duties including espresso and specialty beverage preparation
  • operates point of sale systems processing various payment methods and loyalty transactions
  • stocks food and beverage displays according to Starbucks guidelines
  • monitors and handles prepared foods in compliance with health regulations
  • completes inventory counts using CBORD system
  • follows cleanliness and sanitation standards and participates in store closing activities
  • troubleshoots equipment issues and reports malfunctions
  • may direct student or hourly staff
  • performs related duties as assigned
