Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience in culinary or food service industry
  • Ability to obtain Servsafe manager certification within six months
  • Knowledge of OSHA and food safety standards preferred
  • Ability to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, crouching, or crawling
  • Willingness to work in a correctional facility environment
  • No public safety certification or peace officer status required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 24 months of supervisory experience in culinary production kitchen, restaurant, or food service industry
  • Culinary or food service education, certification, or training preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety, food safety standards, and health regulations preferred
  • Familiarity with menu development and dietary requirements preferred
  • Servsafe manager certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Leadership experience and ability
  • Knowledge of computer and office software including Google Workplace

Job Duties

  • Operate and teach culinary workers to use major kitchen equipment and areas including scullery, bakery, prep/cooking, tray line, cafeteria service, and storage
  • Collaborate with managers, purchasing staff, vendors, and agencies to maintain adequate food and supply inventory
  • Account for delivery of food, supplies, and equipment
  • Conduct regular and spot check inventories
  • Maintain accurate records and logs
  • Identify problems and coordinate solutions with stakeholders
  • Ensure proper maintenance of food service equipment and areas
  • Organize food service operations for efficiency
  • May drive non-CDL box truck or other vehicles
  • Adhere strictly to safety and security policies in correctional environment
