Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two years of experience in institutional or commercial food preparation including one year of supervisory experience
- Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
- Ability to direct and manage the work of others
- Ability to work from written menus, standard recipes and oral instructions
- Ability to maintain records and complete forms accurately
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts to complete tasks
- Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in preparing food on a large scale
- Knowledge of health hazards and necessary precautionary measures in food preparation and service
- Knowledge of food values and menu planning
- Ability to train personnel in the care and use of equipment and standard practices
- Knowledge of safety and security precautions
- Good communication skills
- Physical ability to lift and move objects up to 20 pounds
- Willingness to work variable hours

Job Duties
- Ensure that assigned prep and production for responsible section is complete and accurate
- Ensure accuracy of food according to established menus and timeliness of deliveries according to event orders
- Actively engage in specialty events with action stations including carving, egg, saute as required
- Provide detailed assignments to staff during pre-event meetings including setup, service, and breakdown instructions
- Conduct daily pre-event meetings with staff to communicate operational standards, program agenda, menu knowledge, and special assignments
- Maintain and uphold department standards for grooming, attendance, food safety, service, cleanliness, organization, and proper labeling
- Expect a hands-on approach from all staff
- Have a complete understanding of the products offered by Verde Catering
- Attend and complete all assigned continuing education courses
- Educate staff through line ups, training classes, and more to inform them of standards
- Use training standards in all pre-event meetings
