Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to supervise inmate labor and team members
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and sanitation
- Physical ability to handle lifting, bending, walking, and standing for long periods
- Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Dependability and flexibility
- Willingness to work early morning shifts including weekends
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
- Passionate about food and service
- Solid understanding of food handling regulations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly
- Dependable and flexible
- Ability to stand for extended periods
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure all food is stored properly and in sanitary manner
- Serve food during planned meal schedules following department policies and procedures
- Utilize kitchen utensils/equipment to cook, prepare and serve food according to recipes
- Follow all food safety regulations relating to sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean work environment including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Keep up with garbage collection and kitchen floor cleanliness
- Ensure kitchen is ready for food prep/serving including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
- Review proper portions and utensils for service
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, standing for extended periods
- Be on feet for much of the scheduled shift
- Perform other related duties as assigned
