Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
- Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation
- Ability to provide a reachable telephone number for call-in
- Willingness to remain at work or report during emergency conditions
- Successful completion of application with complete and accurate information
- Military service experience may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis
- Additional experience or education in related areas may substitute for required education or experience
- Compliance with Maryland Department of Juvenile Services policies
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
- Two years of experience in food production or service for a large scale food service operation
- Experience with food service operational reports
- Knowledgeable in food service policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Experience inspecting food service facilities and operations for sanitation and quality compliance
- Possession of a current ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
- At least one year of experience in food production or service in an institutional setting such as hospitals, child nutrition programs, nursing homes, universities, or correctional facilities
Job Duties
- Coordinate and supervise the entire kitchen operation including food receiving, storage, production, service and distribution
- Ensure meals are produced and served according to prescribed procedures and health standards
- Supervise staff engaged in food preparation and serving
- Monitor compliance with health and sanitation regulations
- Maintain food service quality, sanitation, and safety standards
- Remain on-site or report to work during emergency conditions
- Evaluate the efficiency and quality of food service operations
