Job Requirements

  • ability to work evening and weekend hours
  • strong communication and leadership skills
  • knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation procedures
  • ability to manage staff scheduling and payroll
  • proficiency with inventory control and ordering systems
  • capability to maintain clean and safe work environments

Job Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment
  • 3+ years experience in a supervisory role in a food service environment preferred
  • experience working in a large volume operation such as catering or university dining with gross sales over 1 million preferred
  • basic food preparation experience preferred
  • experience with staff training and employee scheduling preferred
  • two or more years experience with mentoring, counseling, and disciplining staff preferred
  • experience using POS to process payments preferred
  • knowledge of essential food service equipment preferred
  • certificate, technical diploma, or associate's degree or higher in hospitality, culinary arts, or related field preferred
  • ServSafe certification, Food Handler, or Manager certification preferred

Job Duties

  • Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • leads and provides exceptional customer service, answers questions, and provides information regarding food preparation, catering, and associated activities
  • cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • develops and schedules logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • performs routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • assigns and coordinates the day-to-day activities of food service staff
