Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two years of experience in food service including one year in a supervisory role
  • or one year experience as Food Service Worker 3 or equivalent
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • ability to lead and supervise staff
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
  • basic computer literacy
  • effective communication skills
  • capability to train staff
  • physical ability to manage kitchen operations and equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • two years of experience in the area of assignment including one year as a lead worker or supervisor
  • or one year experience at the lower level Food Service Worker 3 or equivalent position
  • ServSafe Manager Certification
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ability to motivate staff to improve work quality and quantity
  • knowledge of rules and regulations from DPH, ACA, DOE, USDA, and DJJ
  • thorough knowledge of large food service equipment and appropriate usage
  • experience with the National School Lunch Program

Job Duties

  • Assists with management of the daily operation of the food service department
  • carries out delegated responsibilities assigned by Food Service Director
  • serves as the lead kitchen employee and floor supervisor
  • maintains a certification of Food Safety Management through ServSafe or approved agency
  • assists with review and completion of paperwork daily to ensure accuracy and compliance with governing agencies
  • provides support for ACA preparation for food service-related standards
  • prepares the food service operation for compliance audits
  • assists with corrective action plans for noncompliance
  • places weekly orders for raw foods considering inventory, budget, and facility population
  • orders USDA commodity foods and/or DOD produce
  • reviews each delivery for quality control and communicates issues with vendors
  • assists with monthly reporting in JTS of daily meal counts and food inventory
  • consistently reviews kitchen for sanitation, safety, and program compliance
  • provides education and training to staff on sanitation, safety, and compliance
  • demonstrates supervision of the food service operation including paperwork and month end reports
  • maintains excellent communication with staff, peers, and leadership
  • demonstrates computer literacy and timely email communication
