Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Ability to work inside a correctional facility
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Physical ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, and perform kitchen duties
- Must comply with facility uniform and safety policies
- Pass background and drug screening as required

- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
- Ability to work as a team member and independently
- Strong understanding of food handling regulations
- Ability to multitask and adapt quickly

- Good communication and leadership skills
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menu, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure that all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
- Serve food during planned meal schedules following department policies and procedures
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes and nutritional needs
- Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean work area/environment including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking, and serving equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Keep up with garbage collection and kitchen floor cleanliness
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
- Perform physical duties such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
