Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years food service experience or three years commercial cooking with supervisory experience
- Ability to lift and carry heavy food items
- Ability to work long hours standing in a kitchen
- Ability to work in high temperature environments
- Valid vehicle operator’s license
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Job Qualifications
- One or more years of experience as a Food Service Worker with Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay System
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalency
- Three or more years of commercial, industrial, or institutional cooking experience with supervisory experience
- Associate Degree or four years of food service experience
- Ability to supervise and instruct employees and helpers in food preparation and menu planning
- Knowledge of storekeeping or inventory procedures
- Ability to use automated systems, spreadsheets, and databases
- Valid vehicle operator’s license
Job Duties
- Prepares or supervises preparation of meals using commercial kitchen equipment
- Maintain food service records
- Complete requisitions for food and supply items
- Follow basic dietetic principles to coordinate and audit meals
- Lift or carry large portions of food or ingredients during preparation, serving, delivery, and stocking
- Work long hours standing in a kitchen environment with high temperatures
- Direct kitchen operations as a supervisor
- Train and manage food service staff and youth helpers
- Evaluate employees and helpers in food preparation and service
- Monitor safety and sanitation standards in food areas
- Develop menus compliant with nutrition rules
- Prepare work schedules for shifts and hours
