Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
  • prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in food preparation according to menus and work instructions
  • ensure proper and sanitary food storage
  • serve food according to scheduled meal times and department policies
  • utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food following recipes
  • adhere to food safety regulations regarding sanitation, handling, and storage
  • train other food service workers
  • maintain a clean work environment including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • follow facility uniform policies
  • manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean
  • ensure kitchen readiness for food preparation and serving including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • review proper portion sizes and utensils for service
  • promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
  • perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • be prepared to stand for most of the scheduled shift
  • perform other related duties as assigned
