Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital, located in Huntington, West Virginia, is a 110-bed psychiatric hospital owned and operated by the West Virginia Department of Health Facilities. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of experience in large-scale food preparation and service
  • Ability to work holidays and weekends
  • Must pass background screening
  • Must complete chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug and alcohol testing
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime
  • Ability to work in a tobacco-free environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in large-scale food preparation and service
  • Experience as a Food Service Worker can substitute for two years of required experience for internal applicants
  • Ability to supervise and lead food service staff
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Plan and direct the preparation and service of food in the hospital
  • Supervise and assign duties to cooks, bakers, and food service workers
  • Schedule workers' shifts
  • Coordinate with the Nutritionist to prepare special diets
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Monitor quality and quantity of food served
  • Perform related work as assigned
