Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Suffolk County Food Handlers Certificate or must become certified within 6 months
- Two or more years of leadership experience in kitchen setting
- Two or more years experience in healthcare-related long-term or acute care facility
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local food service regulations
- Proficiency in English
- Ability to adhere to written and verbal instructions
- Must pass background check
- Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Ability to lift 20 to 50 lbs
- Commitment to safety and sanitation protocols
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Suffolk County Food Handlers Certificate or obtain certification within 6 months
- Minimum 2 years experience in a leadership role in kitchen (supervisor or manager)
- Minimum 2 years experience in long-term or acute care facility
- Computer literate
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local food service codes and regulations
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to meet acceptable background check standards
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Preferred: 120-Hour Dietary Managers Course
- Preferred: AA or BS in Hospitality or Health Care Management
- Preferred: Experience working with unionized staff
Job Duties
- Open and close the department according to proper procedures
- Meet with a.m. and p.m. supervisors to discuss and resolve any issues and change
- Find coverage for hourly staff as needed and adjust schedule as necessary in payroll system
- Supervise, evaluate, train, and discipline employees
- Ensure call downs are brought up to units within 15 minutes
- Review supervisor logs daily for staffing concerns, equipment/production problems, and work assignment sheets
- Enforce departmental sanitation policy and procedures
- Ensure sanitation standards, safety, and infection control procedures as required by regulatory agencies
- Check and document sanitation and cleanliness of all work areas including pantries according to government standards
- Enforce timeliness and accuracy of tray services according to departmental policy
- Work closely with dietician team to address special dietary needs and resident concerns
- Ensure proper food handling procedures as outlined in HAACP
- Notify appropriate departments of malfunctioning equipment immediately upon observance
- Monitor and record food temperatures regularly to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Director of Food Services at LISVH
