Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • three years of institutional food service operation experience required
  • one year of supervisory experience in an institutional food service operation required
  • ServSafe Manager certificate must be obtained within six months of hire and maintained throughout employment required
  • completion of a pre-employment criminal record and licensure check required
  • conditional offer drug screen required
  • equivalent education in food service supervision or nutrition may be substituted for required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • ability to perform physical activities including extended periods of sitting and standing, frequent walking, and lifting objects weighing up to 35 pounds
  • ability to comply with federal and state privacy laws and health center policies
  • willingness to work variable hours including days, weekends, overtime, holidays, and emergency call-in
  • ability to operate computers and other equipment requiring hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • experience in preparing reports and conducting performance reviews

  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties

  • Plan and monitor food preparation methods complying with legal requirements
  • supervise food service staff including orientation, training, performance monitoring, and coaching
  • assist the food service coordinator in preparing work schedules
  • establish and maintain effective work relationships with clients, supervisors, county employees, and the public
  • comply with civil service policies, collective bargaining agreements, and county regulations
  • conduct performance reviews of food service staff
  • ensure compliance with food labeling, storage, temperature documentation, and sanitation standards
  • determine and judge food quality and palatability
  • compile and prepare analysis, records, or reports using department software
  • respond to emergency codes as established by health center policy
  • ensure compliance with federal and state privacy laws and health center policies
  • participate in workshops, seminars, and in-service training
  • report to work with regular and consistent attendance
  • perform other duties as assigned and directed
