Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred
  • Two years of food service experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • Current ServSafe certification or ability to be certified within the first six months of appointment
  • Valid driver's license meeting UW Risk Management standards preferred for in-unit positions and required for catering positions

  • Preferred six months of supervisory experience in a professional kitchen or catering setting
  • Preferred three or more years of food service experience in a professional kitchen or catering setting
  • Valid driver's license meeting UW Risk Management standards preferred for in-unit positions and required for catering positions

Job Duties

  • Prepare food including display cooking and beverages following predetermined menus production sheets and recipes for marketplaces and/or on and off-site catering
  • Perform duties in a high-volume dynamic student residential dining/catering environment
  • Interact with English speaking customers while displaying knowledge of food products allergens and food safety
  • Demonstrate and role model exceptional customer service
  • Drive food delivery trucks to efficiently transport staff and supplies to other units and/or events
  • Complete required logs and reports
  • Assist and guides student workers
  • Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency
  • Clean inspect and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
  • Lead and provide exceptional customer service answer questions and provide information regarding food preparation catering and associated activities
  • Adhere to federal state campus and local food safety regulations policies and procedures
  • Assign and coordinate the day-to-day activities of food service staff
  • Perform routine and non-routine food preparation activities including cook to order and specialty foods
  • Develop and schedule logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
