Job Description

Job Requirements

  • 2 years of food service experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • current ServSafe Manager certification or ability to be certified within first 6 months
  • valid driver’s license meeting UW Risk Management standards required for catering and preferred for in-unit positions

Job Qualifications

  • 2 years of food service experience in a professional kitchen setting
  • current ServSafe Manager certification or ability to be certified within 6 months
  • valid driver’s license meeting UW risk management standards preferred for in-unit positions and required for catering
  • 6 months of supervisory experience in professional kitchen or catering setting preferred
  • 3 or more years of food service experience in professional kitchen or catering setting preferred
  • associate’s degree preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare food and beverages following predetermined menus, production sheets, and recipes
  • perform duties in high-volume, dynamic student residential dining and catering environment
  • interact with English speaking customers demonstrating knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety
  • demonstrate and role model exceptional customer service
  • drive food delivery trucks to transport staff and supplies efficiently
  • complete required logs and reports
  • assist and guide student workers
  • provide support in emergency plan implementation
  • lead and provide exceptional customer service, answer questions regarding food preparation and catering
  • clean, inspect, and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
  • develop and schedule logistics and menus for daily and catering operations
  • adhere to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations
  • perform routine and non-routine food preparation including cook to order and specialty foods
  • assign and coordinate day-to-day activities of food service staff
