Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, kneel, and walk as required
  • Prior experience in food service preferred but not mandatory
  • Willingness to work in a correctional facility environment
  • Compliance with facility uniform policies
  • Commitment to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards

  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations
  • Ability to supervise and train staff
  • Strong multitasking and adaptability skills

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members during food preparation and service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct in the preparation of quality foods according to menus, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure proper and sanitary food storage
  • Serve food according to planned meal schedules and department policies
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
  • Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Train and mentor other food service workers
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment including cleaning of refrigerators, cooking equipment, and kitchen floors
  • Ensure proper portions and utensils are used for service
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for long periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
