Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to supervise staff and inmate labor
  • Knowledge of food handling regulations and safe food preparation
  • Ability to train and instruct others
  • Ability to follow sanitation and safety protocols
  • Capability to handle physical demands including standing and lifting
  • Dependable and flexible work attitude

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Preferred prior institutional food service or restaurant experience

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food preparation and service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules in accordance with department policies and procedures
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes and portion requirements
  • Follow all food safety regulations related to sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain a clean work area including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment
  • Enforce facility uniform policy
  • Oversee garbage collection and cleanliness of kitchen floors
  • Ensure kitchen environment is clean and ready for food preparation and serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Meet physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
