Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work in a correctional facility setting
  • Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods
  • Capacity to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and kneeling
  • Dependable and flexible
  • Strong understanding of food handling and safety regulations

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in food preparation according to planned menu, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
  • Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain a clean work area including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • Follow facility uniform policy
  • Keep up with garbage collection and maintain kitchen floor cleanliness
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
