Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Minimum two years of food service management experience
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evening shifts
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift up to 25lbs occasionally
- Ability to reach above shoulder height and bend below waist
- Ability to work in walk-in coolers and freezers
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, twist, and frequently lift or maneuver merchandise and supplies
- Dexterity to use deli equipment such as knives, slicers, burners, ovens, fryers, and rotisseries
- Must be helpful, tactful, courteous, and able to work efficiently with minimal direction
- Ability to use registers, scales, scanners, debit/credit terminals
- Ability to read UPC codes, product labels, shelf signage, register forms, and company policies
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn a wide variety of deli/food service products including ingredients.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years prior experience in a fresh food environment, preferably in a management role
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively schedule and coach team members
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Experience in inventory management and order processing
- Ability to operate deli equipment and point-of-sale systems
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to perform basic business math calculations
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
- Desire to learn and adapt to new products and recipes
- Serv-Safe certification preferred.
Job Duties
- Directing department personnel, meeting department goals and objectives, communicating directly with store management and supervisors
- Selecting, onboarding, and coaching new team members
- Scheduling all team members
- Engaging with customers through greetings, product information, selling suggestions, active sampling, and thanking customers
- Taking customer orders and ensuring their completion on time and to satisfaction
- Ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Ordering products and supplies to maintain stock and merchandising standards
- Overseeing preparation, serving, and merchandising of deli/food service items including entrees, fried foods, pizzas, salads, soups, sandwiches, roller grill items, beverages, and snacks
- Displaying products according to merchandising guidelines
- Following product recipes without deviation
- Rotating items to ensure quality, safety, and shrink control
- Receiving merchandise, auditing invoices, and storing products properly
- Periodically counting inventory
- Completing paperwork accurately and timely
- Processing cash transactions, giving change and refunds
- Using scale printer machine to ensure correct weights and pricing
- Monitoring pricing, signage, and placement including shelf tags and signage
- Maintaining clean and orderly sales counters, prep areas, shelves, and walk-in coolers/freezers
- Ensuring department personnel use proper safety equipment and procedures
- Performing other duties assigned by management.
