Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to supervise inmate labor and team members
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Capability to use kitchen equipment and utensils
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical ability to perform kitchen duties including standing for extended periods
- Dependability and flexibility
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changes quickly
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred
Job Duties
- Supervise inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
- Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and team members in preparing quality foods according to menu, recipes, and work instructions
- Ensure proper and sanitary food storage
- Serve food during scheduled meal times according to department policies
- Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment for cooking, preparation, and serving
- Follow all food safety regulations including sanitation, food handling, and storage
- Train other food service workers
- Maintain a clean work environment including cleaning refrigerators, cooking and serving equipment
- Follow facility uniform policy
- Manage garbage collection and kitchen floor cleanliness
- Ensure readiness of kitchen environment for food prep and serving including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
- Review portion sizes and utensils for proper service
- Promote a healthy and safe working environment for employees and inmates
- Perform physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for long periods
- Perform other related duties as assigned
