Job Requirements
- completion of twelfth grade
- three years of experience in quantity food preparation and serving in a commercial setting or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
- possession of ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification prior to employment
- valid driver’s license and proof of insurability may be required to drive a district or personal vehicle
- ability to stand and walk frequently, lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
- ability to work in kitchen environments with temperature variations and noise
- capability to use kitchen tools and computer equipment
- ability to communicate and maintain effective working relationships
- willingness to obtain required certifications before start
- comply with district policies and procedures
- availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Job Qualifications
- completion of twelfth grade
- three years of experience in quantity food preparation and serving in a commercial setting or equivalent
- possession of ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification prior to employment
- ability to prepare complex menu items using multiple cooking methods
- knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures per health ordinances
- ability to use kitchen equipment properly
- basic math skills for food quantity computation and cash handling
- ability to communicate effectively and provide high-level customer service
- capable of maintaining hygiene standards
- proficiency with computer systems and relevant software
- ability to train and lead temporary staff
- sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds
Job Duties
- prepares, cooks, and serves assigned menu items by sautéing, grilling, baking, frying, broiling, slicing, heating, counting, weighing, measuring, cutting, and scooping into established serving size portions
- maintains the total production of all foods prepared and maintains inventory to ensure product availability while ensuring proper presentation and garnishing of foods
- packages food and beverages in proper quantity for transport to other serving locations
- delivers food for catering functions and performs set up and break down of catering
- prepares, distributes, and serves feeding programs and catered events, maintaining a recordkeeping system of these activities
- checks catering schedules and prepares and records the quantity of food used for each meal
- operates various kitchen equipment including grills, mixers, fryers, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, slicers, steamers, tilt skillets, warmers, and dishwashers
- assists with inventory of products and equipment and maintains daily records of food and supplies used
- provides training and lead direction to student workers and temporary staff
- uses culinary skills to create consistent meals following prescribed recipes
- participates in district-provided in-service training programs
- performs other related duties as assigned
