Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of cooking experience preferably in a healthcare setting
  • ServSafe certification or ability to obtain certification
  • Ability to read and follow recipes
  • Basic math skills
  • Knowledge of Mississippi Department of Health guidelines
  • Ability to take instructions and follow through
  • Valid driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Prepare three well-balanced meals daily according to Harbor House menus and standards
  • Follow recipes and food preparation guidelines accurately
  • Maintain proper food storage, labeling, and dating
  • Monitor inventory and report shortages
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of the kitchen
  • Follow ServSafe, infection control, and Mississippi Department of Health guidelines
  • Communicate calmly and respectfully with clients
  • Use de-escalation strategies when stress arises
  • Maintain professional boundaries
