Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in food preparation and kitchen maintenance
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow nutrition guidelines for children
  • physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • willingness to assist in classroom and playground activities as directed
  • ability to complete health and safety checks
  • willingness to undergo criminal background check
  • proof of education prior to hire

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow nutrition guidelines for children
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • physical ability to perform job duties including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • willingness to assist with children and classroom tasks under supervision
  • basic math skills for inventory and ordering

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals that will be served to children during breakfast, lunch and snack time
  • wash and sanitize all food service equipment and materials used in preparing, cooking, transporting, serving and storing of food and non-food items
  • ensure food safety by taking temperature of food at delivery and before serving and confirming that refrigerators and freezers are operating properly
  • provide feedback during annual menu planning meetings with the Preschool Health Team and Nutritionist, and throughout the year
  • work with Education Supervisor and Health Coordinator to ensure quality from food service provider
  • prepare supply requests and take weekly inventory for kitchen and facility
  • track office and classroom supply inventory, create purchase orders for operations team to purchase
  • complete daily kitchen Health and Safety Check to ensure all equipment and supplies are prepared and cleaned
  • assist teachers by helping with children in classrooms, at bus pick-up/drop off as requested
  • assist staff with general office duties as assigned
  • other duties as assigned
