Nutrition Services at Wexner Medical Center is dedicated to providing high-quality nutritional care and managing food service operations for patients, staff, and visitors across multiple facilities and campuses. The department’s primary aim is to enhance satisfaction among patients, staff, and customers by delivering efficient and coordinated nutrition care and food services. These services span several locations, including University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, Brain and Spine Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Solove Research Institute, University Hospital East, and OSU Harding, as well as various cafes and retail food operations on the main campus. Job Requirements

  • per classified civil service specifications or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 600 hours training in operation of kitchen equipment or 6 months experience
  • 600 hours training in food preparation or 6 months experience
  • 6 courses in supervision or 6 months experience
  • 6 courses in food management or 6 months experience
  • 1 course in budgeting or 1 month experience
  • 1 course in bookkeeping or 1 month experience

Job Qualifications

  • per state classified civil service requirements
  • 600 hours training in operation of kitchen equipment or 6 months experience
  • 600 hours training in food preparation or 6 months experience
  • 6 courses in supervision or 6 months experience
  • 6 courses in food management or 6 months experience
  • 1 course in budgeting or 1 month experience
  • 1 course in bookkeeping or 1 month experience
  • 1-3 years of management experience preferred

Job Duties

  • coordinate and direct daily operations in assigned areas
  • supervise, coordinate and participate in activities of nutrition aides, sales assistants, and kitchen personnel
  • initiate partnerships with other departments
  • lead and train service staff in patient care and retail cafes
  • enforce quality standards and sanitation plans
  • requisition food and food-related products
  • assist with policies and procedures development and management
