Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, nutrition, food service administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience managing food service programs
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws applicable to food service operations
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Strong organizational and financial management skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency with computer applications essential to food service management

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in managing food service operations, preferably in institutional or commercial settings
  • Knowledge of management and organizational theory principles
  • Familiarity with food safety, nutrition, and menu planning
  • Strong leadership, supervision, and training skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local food service laws and regulations
  • Proficiency with standard office equipment and software applications
  • Effective communication and customer service skills

Job Duties

  • Direct, plan, manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities of a county food service program or kitchen facility
  • Coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the general public
  • Select, supervise, train, and evaluate food service staff
  • Plan and review work assignments and resolve disciplinary issues
  • Develop, monitor, and interpret food service budgets and related financial documents
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to food service operations
  • Develop menus, including modifications for special diets, and oversee food procurement, storage, and preparation processes
