Job Requirements

  • Valid California Driver License, Class C or higher
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate
  • Tuberculin clearance
  • Completion of probationary period of six months
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Job Qualifications

  • One year of full-time paid experience as Food Service Supervisor with the County of Sacramento
  • Four years of full-time experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen
  • Supervisory experience in food service
  • Knowledge of management and organizational theory principles
  • Familiarity with food safety codes and regulations
  • Experience in menu planning and special diet modifications
  • Ability to use office equipment and software for food service operations
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Job Duties

  • Direct, plan, manage, supervise, and coordinate food service program operations
  • Coordinate activities with other divisions, departments, agencies, and the public
  • Select, supervise, train, and evaluate food service staff
  • Plan and modify menus for special diets and nutrition requirements
  • Manage purchasing, storing, and preparation of food in large quantities
  • Monitor and interpret food service budgets and financial documents
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding food service operations
