Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or approved equivalency
  • Four years of supervisory experience
  • Certification in HACCP or ServSafe within six months
  • Certification by SCDC training academy or basic training within twelve months
  • Completion of basic supervisory course within eighteen months
  • Successful completion of four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire
  • Ability to travel statewide

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or approved equivalency
  • Four years of supervisory experience
  • Two years of experience in quantity and quality cooking if holding a bachelor's degree
  • Associate degree with four years of cooking experience as an alternative
  • High school diploma with six years of cooking experience as an alternative
  • Certification in HACCP or ServSafe manager within six months of employment
  • Certification by SCDC training academy or completion of SCDC basic training within twelve months
  • Completion of basic supervisory course within eighteen months

Job Duties

  • Maintain and oversee food service programs across 23 institutional cafeterias
  • Ensure compliance with DHEC, SCDC food service policies, HACCP, and ServSafe regulations
  • Supervise and evaluate food service personnel, including applicant screening and corrective actions
  • Prepare and distribute over 15 million meals annually to inmates and staff
  • Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions with direct reports
  • Perform on-site operational assessments and collaborate with wardens and business managers
  • Participate in cafeteria renovation and new construction design and layout
  • Manage the USDA school lunch program
  • Travel statewide as required
