Job Requirements
- A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED program
- A minimum of two years within the last five years of food service experience
- Completion of the School Board of Broward County Food and Nutrition Services Department Organization and Management Intern Manager Training Program
- Ability to follow directions, read and communicate in English
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, teachers, school administrators, and Food and Nutrition service-related personnel
- General knowledge of quantity food service and nutrition
- Computer skills as required for the position
Job Qualifications
- An earned associate degree from an accredited institution or at least 60 semester hours or earned college credit with coursework in Food Services or related field
- Prior institutional food and service experience
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
- Bilingual skills preferred
Job Duties
- Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties
- Participate in ongoing state-approved training and educational initiatives relating to Food and Nutrition Services
- Act as a liaison between school-based administrators, Food and Nutrition Services personnel, and district staff
- Ensure students receive nutritious meals and quality service in compliance with USDA and district policies
- Supervise food production and service to ensure meals meet high standards for flavor and appearance and comply with federal and state requirements
- Ensure food production operations comply with food preparation, serving portion size, and sanitation practices
- Adhere to Meal Count System procedures
- Oversee food production for recipe compliance and service
- Monitor food production ensuring meal services are safe and quality food is served in proper quantities at appropriate times
- Follow purchasing procedures and maintain cost control through planning, inventory ordering, preparation, and service
- Provide input regarding menu planning items
- Pre-plan meals and document food and supplies utilized
- Verify left-overs and plan for effective utilization
- Verify inventories of commodities, purchased food, and non-food items
- Check-in all deliveries verifying quantities, quality, and price
- Direct proper storage of food and non-food items following safety procedures
- Conduct Capital Inventory verification as directed
- Maintain complete, adequate, and accurate records as required by local, state, and national programs
- Verify cash, complete deposit procedures, and other records according to approved School Board cash collection system
- Oversee operations and staff including participation in employee hiring
- Assist school personnel in scheduling Food and Nutrition Services personnel for kitchen use outside normal meal services
- Ensure effective time management through daily written work schedules
