Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience managing a food service operation including supervision, inventory control, cost management, food preparation, and sanitation
  • Or two years of experience at the lower-level Food Svc Spec Spv (FFT013) or equivalent position
  • Active ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of governing bodies rules and regulations
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Adequate computer literacy
  • Ability to communicate via email in a timely manner

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience managing a food service operation including supervision, inventory control, cost management, food preparation, and sanitation
  • Experience with National School Meal Programs is preferred
  • Active ServSafe Manager Certification preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to motivate staff and improve work quality
  • Knowledge of regulations from DPH, ACA, DOE, USDA, and DJJ
  • Thorough knowledge of large food service equipment

Job Duties

  • Directs and oversees daily food service operations at the facility level
  • Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines, and discharges food service employees
  • Manages daily HR functions including work schedules, time off requests, and staffing coverage
  • Communicates departmental goals, objectives, and plans to staff and monitors adherence
  • Ensures subordinate staff receive proper training and maintain ServSafe certification
  • Plans, schedules, prioritizes, and assigns work to food service workers
  • Acts as liaison between food services, facility, and central office
  • Maintains Food Safety Management certification
  • Completes paperwork accurately for governing agencies
  • Leads preparation for ACA compliance audits and manages follow-up corrective actions
  • Projects and submits annual supply needs including small wares, disposables, chemicals, and food service supplies
  • Places weekly orders for raw foods considering inventory, budget, and population
  • Orders USDA commodity foods and DoD produce
  • Reviews delivery quality control and coordinates with vendors and central office
  • Completes monthly meal count and inventory reporting in JTS
  • Manages maintenance and replacement of food service equipment
  • Reviews kitchen sanitation, safety, and program compliance
  • Provides ongoing staff education and training on sanitation and safety
  • Trains food service supervisors to manage all operational and reporting tasks
  • Demonstrates effective communication and computer literacy
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant governing body standards including ACA, USDA, DPH, and DJJ policies
