Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of Food Service Manager Internship Program or equivalent experience
  • Certified Food Manager Certification from an ANSI accredited program
  • Pass fingerprinting background check with fee paid by employee
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and work with frequent interruptions
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform necessary physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing, bending, and repetitive hand motions
  • Basic computer proficiency

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Completion of SAISD’s Food Service Manager Internship Program or minimum 2 years food service management experience in a school district participating in the National School Lunch Program or minimum 1 year as Food Service Assistant Manager within SAISD
  • Certified Food Manager Certification as approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services from an ANSI accredited program
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills
  • Effective planning and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficiency in funds management, bookkeeping, and recordkeeping

Job Duties

  • Produce and maintain work schedules, serving schedules, and production documents on a daily basis
  • Serve all food items according to USDA menu specifications and district policies
  • Coordinate with campus principal, supervisor, and Food and Child Nutrition Services to resolve personnel problems, schedule changes, and special serving requirements
  • Supervise and evaluate cafeteria workers and make employment recommendations
  • Ensure safe and high-quality food production and storage
  • Maintain accurate financial, production, and activity records
  • Enforce compliance with cleanliness, health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Manage food and supply orders and inventory
  • Maintain equipment maintenance logs and perform preventive maintenance
  • Comply with state, district, and federal policies
  • Compile and file reports, records, and related documents
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
