Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • ability to record observations and activities accurately
  • ability to follow oral and written directions
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • successful completion of USDA Food and Nutrition Service Nutrition Assistant Training during probation or successful completion of Oklahoma State Department of Health WIC Certified WIC Nutrition Technician training during probation for some positions
  • eligibility to work in safety-sensitive positions as defined by state law

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • effective oral and written communication skills
  • ability to record observations and activities accurately
  • ability to follow oral and written directions
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • knowledge of nutrition and dietetics principles helpful but not required

Job Duties

  • Interview patients and take diet histories
  • review patient medical charts for dietetic and nutritional information
  • assist nutrition therapists in determining appropriate nutritional care for patients
  • provide individual diet instructions to patients with normal and modified diets as directed by nutrition therapists
  • conduct classes on general nutrition and consumer education
  • participate in public information and educational activities regarding nutrition
  • maintain records and prepare reports
