Job Description

The Department of Health Services (DHS) at Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is actively seeking a dedicated Food Service Manager to join their team. MMHI is a well-established inpatient psychiatric facility located on the north side of Madison, Wisconsin, that provides specialized services including treatment, research, training, and consultation in the mental health arena. Job Requirements

  • must have a valid driver's license
  • must have minimum of two years licensed driving experience
  • must be 18 years of age
  • must pass a background check
  • must pass a TB test prior to start date
  • must pass a physical evaluation including ability to lift up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending, crawling, crouching, and climbing
  • driving record must not include three or more moving violations or at-fault accidents in the past two years
  • no OWI/DUI citations within the past 12 months
  • no suspension or revocation of driver's license
  • willingness to work 8:30am to 5:00pm with coverage for other shifts including early and late weekend shifts
  • ability to drive a State vehicle
  • willingness to comply with state policies and employment requirements

Job Qualifications

  • experience performing daily operational duties in food service in a cafeteria setting or other high volume food service setting
  • experience serving in a supervisor or leadership role in food service
  • experience providing customer service in a food service role
  • experience working with computer programs related to food service operations such as nutrition analysis, menu preparation, diet orders
  • experience with food purchasing, quality control, and inventory control
  • experience or education with food production and service for specialized or therapeutic diets in a healthcare setting
  • bilingual in Spanish with ability to complete language assessment for add-on pay

Job Duties

  • providing managerial, supervisory and liaison services in the department and with other departments as required
  • maintaining high standards of sanitation, safety, and good housekeeping
  • coordinating functions of the Food and Nutrition Services Department
  • overseeing food service operations including scheduling and training staff
  • ensuring compliance with food handling safety and sanitation practices
  • managing food ordering and inventory control
  • supporting customer service excellence in food service
