Job Description
This position is with an educational institution operating a comprehensive food service program aimed at providing nutritious meals to students and staff. The establishment is committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, nutrition, and efficient food service operations in compliance with USDA child nutrition program guidelines and the State of Idaho Department of Education requirements. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree
- prior experience preferred
- physical ability to lift and push/pull up to 50 pounds
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- capability to follow detailed oral and written instructions
- attendance at safety meetings and training
- knowledge of cleaning methods, First Aid, and CPR
- ability to manage inventory and security
- compliance with USDA and state nutrition standards
- proficiency in English and preferably Spanish
- ability to work under time constraints and handle multiple demands
- willingness to respond to emergencies
- ability to operate computers and related software
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- previous experience in food service preferred
- knowledge of USDA child nutrition program and State of Idaho education department requirements
- ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions and correspondence
- ability to communicate clearly in English, Spanish proficiency preferred
- mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- problem-solving and reasoning skills
- computer operation skills
- ability to develop effective working relationships with school community
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
Job Duties
- Calculate recipe quantities to meet meal needs without excess waste
- clean utensils, equipment, and food preparation areas to maintain sanitation
- direct assigned personnel, student workers, and volunteers
- inspect food items and supplies to verify quantity and compliance with health standards
- maintain food and supply inventory
- maintain food service equipment for safe operation
- order food and supplies to meet nutritional meal requirements
- prepare documentation such as employee time cards and safety regulations
- prepare food and beverages meeting nutritional and meal requirements
- respond to inquiries from staff and families regarding meal types and costs
- stock food, condiments, and supplies maintaining adequate quantities
- train employees and evaluate job performance
- occasionally supervise students
