Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years commercial kitchen experience
- At least 1 year kitchen staff supervision experience
- SERV Safe Certification or ability to attain upon hire
- Valid state-issued driver’s license with clean driving record
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as needed
- Physical ability to perform culinary functions including lifting up to 30 pounds and standing for long periods
- Ability to travel to other Wheeler Mission sites occasionally
- Commitment to sobriety with 1+ years
- Passing pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Agreement to adhere to conflict of interest, confidentiality, and drugs and alcohol policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years commercial kitchen experience
- At least 1 year kitchen staff supervision experience
- SERV Safe Certification or ability to attain upon hire
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including email, Word, and Excel
- Basic knowledge of Paycom payroll system
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Demonstrated ability to train and develop staff
- Knowledge of commercial kitchen health and safety standards
- Ability to apply de-escalation techniques in diverse settings

Job Duties
- Oversees kitchen staff to ensure meal preparation and service
- Supervises site staff, volunteers, and guests in collaboration for meal-related tasks
- Prepares weekly staffing schedules and manages payroll approval
- Trains kitchen staff on cooking techniques, equipment usage, and health standards
- Conducts annual performance reviews and ensures certifications remain current
- Maintains safe and clean kitchen environment compliant with health codes
- Monitors kitchen equipment condition and coordinates repairs
- Plans and manages menus within budgetary limits
- Places food orders and manages inventory
- Adapts menus based on guest preferences and nutritional guidelines
- Plans and executes meal preparation, cooking, serving, and cleanup efficiently
- Oversees budget adherence and reports to Director of Bloomington location
