Job Requirements
- High school diploma or HSE
- minimum two years commercial kitchen experience
- at least one year of kitchen staff supervision experience
- SERV Safe certification or ability to attain upon hire
- knowledge of industrial kitchen machine operations
- familiarity with commercial kitchen health and safety standards
- ability to perform de-escalation techniques
- volunteer management experience
- basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- basic proficiency in Paycom software
- belief in the inerrancy of the Holy Bible
- adherence to Wheeler Mission values and employee policies
- willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary
- valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
- ability to travel to other Wheeler sites occasionally
- compliance with Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Policies
- successful completion of background check
- minimum one year sobriety
- compliance with Wheeler Mission drug and alcohol policies

Job Duties
- Oversees kitchen staff including meal preparation and serving
- works with and supervises site staff, volunteers, and guests for meal preparation, serving, and cleanup
- prepares weekly staffing and shift schedules and approves payroll time
- trains staff in cooking techniques, proper serving, machine usage, and health and safety requirements
- conducts annual performance reviews and ensures staff certifications are current
- maintains a safe and clean kitchen environment compliant with health codes
- attends to equipment malfunctions and coordinates repairs
- oversees health department inspections
- plans menus within budget and guidelines
- places food orders and manages inventory
- varies menu to maintain nutritional balance and seasonal appropriateness
- plans preparation, cooking, serving, and cleanup to serve meals on time at proper temperature
- gathers feedback and adjusts menus based on guest preferences
- manages kitchen budget and stays within assigned limits
