Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Food Manager Certificate accepted by the Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Two years of food service experience preferred
  • Speaks, reads, writes and understands instructions in English
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and produce work efficiently
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to handle money and perform routine calculations
  • Effective communication skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee daily food preparation, service of meals and clean-up of kitchen and serving areas
  • Uphold program standards and provide positive leadership at assigned and substitute locations
  • Complete necessary paperwork as required by federal, state, local and district entities
  • Lead kitchen personnel in presenting planned promotions
  • Ensure safety and sanitation policies are followed in the kitchen
  • Open and close kitchen as needed
  • Manage daily food preparation, quality control, temperature, presentation, garnishing and portion control
  • Supervise Food & Nutrition Services personnel and enforce department policies
  • Coordinate with delivery vendors and district warehouses to order and store products
  • Assist in monthly inventory and prepare daily deposits
  • Perform Cafeteria Manager duties during manager absences
  • Place work orders for kitchen maintenance
  • Lead kitchen personnel in positive interactions with parents, staff, students and community
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Attend meetings and staff development
  • Conduct training with Food Service Specialists
  • Supervise specialists in daily kitchen functions
  • Consult with Manager on employee evaluations and personnel issues
  • Perform other assigned duties
