Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum two years of culinary training and institutional cooking experience
  • Ability to lift and move pans and cases weighing up to 55 pounds
  • Maintains ServSafe Certification
  • Ability to organize work efficiently
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency with computer use
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and community members

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two years in culinary training and institutional cooking experience
  • Experience as a food production manager preferred
  • Ability to lift and move pans and cases weighing up to 55 pounds
  • Maintains ServSafe Certification
  • Ability to organize the day’s work in a time saving manner
  • Ability to work and communicate well with people
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Ability to relate appropriately to students, staff and community members

Job Duties

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the NSLP guidelines
  • Direct preparation of all food items for school breakfast, lunch, and special events and organize work in a time saving manner
  • Use the computer for production, food inventory, maintaining records, and placing orders
  • Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes
  • Store and record leftover food and maintain production records
  • Provide on the job training to food service staff
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and report malfunctions
