Job Description

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is currently recruiting for multiple Food Service Lead positions at the Anchorage Correctional Center (ACC) located in Anchorage, Alaska. Job Requirements

  • Reside in the United States legally
  • Possess ServSafe Food Worker Certificate
  • Provide resume
  • Submit list of three professional references
  • Furnish three most recent performance evaluations
  • Pass criminal history check and fingerprinting
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic correctional environment
  • Meet union referral criteria for hiring

Job Qualifications

  • Competency in food production including planning, growing, and harvesting food
  • Knowledge of food service preparation and serving
  • Ability to adapt to changing information and conditions
  • Experience in culinary training or food service supervision
  • Understanding of safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication and mentorship abilities

Job Duties

  • Train inmates in culinary arts including food preparation, sanitation, hygiene, safety, and use and cleaning of industrial kitchen equipment
  • Ensure food serving methods comply with the Department of Environmental Conservation standards
  • Adjust work schedules based on inmate availability
  • Document prepared diets and food items served
  • Ensure hot and cold food carts are accurately loaded and temperature-checked before leaving the kitchen
  • Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to inmates
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation compliance
