Job Requirements
- Reside in the United States legally
- Possess ServSafe Food Worker Certificate
- Provide resume
- Submit list of three professional references
- Furnish three most recent performance evaluations
- Pass criminal history check and fingerprinting
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic correctional environment
- Meet union referral criteria for hiring
Job Qualifications
- Competency in food production including planning, growing, and harvesting food
- Knowledge of food service preparation and serving
- Ability to adapt to changing information and conditions
- Experience in culinary training or food service supervision
- Understanding of safety and sanitation standards
- Strong organizational skills
- Effective communication and mentorship abilities
Job Duties
- Train inmates in culinary arts including food preparation, sanitation, hygiene, safety, and use and cleaning of industrial kitchen equipment
- Ensure food serving methods comply with the Department of Environmental Conservation standards
- Adjust work schedules based on inmate availability
- Document prepared diets and food items served
- Ensure hot and cold food carts are accurately loaded and temperature-checked before leaving the kitchen
- Provide hands-on coaching and mentorship to inmates
- Maintain food safety and sanitation compliance
