Job Description

The School Nutrition Department is currently seeking dedicated Food Service Helpers for immediate openings during the 2025/26 school year. This department plays a vital role in supporting student nutrition by ensuring that meals are prepared and served efficiently and in compliance with food safety standards. They operate within school cafeterias, overseeing the preparation, service, and cleanliness of food service areas to create a positive and healthy dining experience for students. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior food service experience preferred
  • ability to stand for extended periods during shift
  • ability to follow health and safety regulations
  • punctuality and reliability
  • capacity to work part-time schedules during school hours
  • ability to handle cash transactions accurately

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • food service experience preferred
  • ability to work well in a team environment
  • good communication skills
  • basic math skills for handling the cashier duties
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred

Job Duties

  • Serves as cashier on student food service line
  • set up prep area, serving line, cash register for menu items and ease of service
  • prepare foods and ingredients properly, efficiently, and courteously
  • serve food from steam table of food line in cafeteria-style operation
  • maintain a clean and orderly workstation
  • wash and sanitize all pots, pans, and utensils
  • assist with cleanup of equipment, serving areas, and work areas
  • count, store, return leftover foods properly following all food safety guidelines
  • assist Cook Manager or Food Service Director with additional tasks as needed
