Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service or kitchen operations preferred but not required
- Knowledge of fryer operation and safe handling of hot equipment is a plus
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and timing
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Job Duties
- Prepare all fried food items such as fries, tenders, and onion rings according to Duck Stop recipes and portion standards
- Cook items to golden, crispy perfection using timers, thermometers, and visual cues
- Follow portioning procedures to maintain product consistency and control costs
- Keep fried food under appropriate heat lamps for minimal hold time ensuring food is served hot and fresh
- Manage multiple baskets and cook cycles simultaneously during high-volume periods
- Coordinate with other kitchen stations to ensure all components of an order are completed together and served on time
- Follow Duck Stop’s strict food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times
- Wear proper uniform, gloves, and safety gear while operating fryers
- Maintain oil levels and monitor oil quality, filtering and changing oil as required by company standards
- Ensure fryer temperatures are correct and safe before, during, and after use
- Keep fryer area clean, organized, and free from debris, grease, or hazards
- Clean fryers, heat lamps, utensils, and surrounding surfaces throughout and at the end of each shift
- Maintain accurate temperature logs and follow all safety procedures for hot oil handling and disposal
- Keep station neat, clean, and organized throughout the shift
- Restock fries, tenders, and other items during downtime to maintain continuous service readiness
- Label, date, and rotate ingredients according to the FIFO system
- Ensure fry baskets, tongs, and utensils are sanitized and properly stored
- Maintain proper functioning and cleanliness of heat lamps, fryers, and holding trays
- Communicate with team members using the “echo system” to ensure order accuracy and smooth workflow
- Coordinate with other kitchen stations such as broiler, hot dog, or beef to ensure complete, accurate orders
- Move with urgency while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
- Assist team members during rush periods or as directed by shift leads or managers
- Report any equipment issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages immediately to management
- Support the end-of-shift cleaning and closing process
- Take pride in the presentation, taste, and consistency of every fried item
- Ensure guests receive fresh, properly cooked products that meet Duck Stop’s quality standards
- Support timely and accurate service for dine-in and takeout orders
- Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with coworkers and management to create a smooth guest experience
